What We Found
The V-Trades program will work to fill the Trade labor shortage by educating our community on this career route. Current During our program research we found these Trades shortage statistics:

Of young people have never talked meaningfully to a Skilled Trades professional about career opportunities.

Of General contractors worry about a possible labor shortage.

Of survey respondents indicated shortage of Skilled workers.

Increase in job openings for Skilled Trades vs. Pre-pandemic levels. Most positions remained unfilled for an average of 24 days.
Vision
V-Trades 101 is an introduction to the vocational and skilled trades. The goal is to guide young men and women in their decision-making processes and expose them to the real-life experience and connections that could inspire them to different types of careers, as they are considering options of pursuing higher education.
Phase One
Targets 5th-9th graders and their parents/guardians.
Features workshops with tradesmen and careerman to introduce youth to a variety of trades careers.
Career Aptitude assessments are taken by participants.
Phase Two
Targets 9th-12th Graders.
Allows participants to visit job and career sites to get a better understanding of a work environment.
Mock interviews are used as a form to familiarize participants with being on the job market.
Career aptitude tests are used to pair participants with a mentor.
Phase Three
Targets High School graduates and adults.
Participants enter into apprenticeships or internships in the career field that they are most interested in and compatible with.
Funnels participants into the workforce through partnered employers.
