Cville Gives awards $10K affordable housing grant to Abundant Life!

April 24, 2018 | Written by Cooper

Philanthropic networking club Cville Gives announced its members selected Abundant Life to receive its $10,000 affordable housing grant last night at Cville Gives Grant Night as part of the 7th Annual Tom Tom Founders Festival. Abundant Life was chosen from an elite group of finalists that included Piedmont Housing Alliance, AHIP, The Haven, and International Neighbors. The $10,000 grant will provide match money for low-income first-time home buyers who participate in Abundant Life’s FIDA (financial literacy) program. An additional $12,500 will be split among the other finalists.

Staff member Treatrous Jackson and board member Clay Daniel pitched Abundant Life’s presentation to Cville Gives members on March 6 (video below, courtesy of Cville Gives). Treatrous is a former program participant who used the skills and match money she gained to buy a house, further her education, and start a business, and now helps run the program. In addition to Treatrous and Clay, Executive Director Nathan Walton and Chief Operating Officer Anne Brown were on hand to receive the ceremonial $10,000 check.

An ecstatic Clay shared, “I am humbled to have been a small part of this process and thrilled that this grant money will help local families realize their dreams of home ownership!”

Abundant Life is thankful to God for his provision, Cville Gives for their partnership, event sponsors, the other finalists for their important work, and attendees who donated $12,500 toward affordable housing efforts in the city.
