Art of Building Community Art Auction was a Success!

June 23, 2023 | Written by Faith Kelley

Thank you to each of you who came out to our Art of Building Community annual art auction fundraiser on June 8th! We were truly blessed by your presence, along with the beautiful space provided by First Presbyterian Church, and are so grateful to our artists and sponsors – all of which made this event possible.

Thus far, we have raised $16,000 from the event, which is 75% of our goal to raise $20,000 from this event through sponsorships, auction bids, and other donations. See below for a special match to help us close the gap and reach the goal!

We heard from Executive Director Eddie Howard and Board Chair Rachel Schnorr on recent Abundant Life highlights, including the exciting new Vocational Trades career exploration program which is launching this month and being integrated into Abundant Life middle and high school programming, and our deepening partnership with UVA with UVA Health now holding twice-monthly on-site clinics at the Abundant Life Center, along with career collaborations with Pipelines & Pathways and Facilities Management.

We heard powerful testimonies of Abundant Life’s lasting impact from alumnus Dom Morse, now elected to the Charlottesville City SchoolBoard, Charlottesville Vice Mayor Juandiego Wade, and his STRIVE mentee, alumnus Cameron Stark.

Important update: If you weren’t able to attend in person—or if you walked away without a winning bid or making another donation—we have a special match opportunity to help close the gap to our final goal! Thanks to a generous donor, we have a dollar-for-dollar match up to $2500 (for donations outside of auction bids)! We would be grateful if you would consider helping us maximize impact from this match, you can give online (use the “Sponsor ABC” designation in the Purpose field) or via
check with ABC match in the memo.
