1st Annual Community Festival Success

May 4, 2022 | Written by Rebecca Goodwin-Feldmann

On Saturday, April 23rd, Abundant Life hosted its first-ever, annual Community Festival. This time of great fellowship with our neighbors was a blessing from God, following the hardships of the Pandemic.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Abundant Life staff began preparing this festival as an initiative to reconnect with our beloved neighbors, on-site, for the first time in two years. During this festival, we were able to breathe life into the future of this Ministry as we were joined by fantastic vendors, current and previous staff, and most importantly, our partnered community and new families interested in becoming a part of our Abundant Life Family.

Our new Executive Director, Eddie Howard, was grateful to see his beloved community again after being gone for thirteen years. “The joy and happiness that were expressed to me about Abundant Life being here and being able to open its physical doors to the community once again was humbling and heartwarming. To know that such a vast amount of people continue to depend on and put their mental, emotional and spiritual future into the hands of what we do for Christ, continues to humble me as I revisit the many conversations.”

Thank you to our newly appointed Board Chair, Rachel Schnorr, for hosting the Board of Directors to their board retreat on-site.

Part of Abundant Life’s mission is to walk with the Prospect community, {W}Holistically, serving the entire family and not just the children, and one of our Team’s goals going into the planning of this event was to remind our neighbors of that mission for this Ministry. This was accomplished by bringing out our great resource partners. A special thanks to Ready Kids, Emergency Food Network, First Citizens Bank, Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Swords into Plowshares, and The Steppe Family Ministry.

We are also grateful for the wonderful Sponsor of this event, Commonwise Homecare. Without you, this festival wouldn’t have been as special as it was. Glory to God for his good grace and mercy for Abundant Life and the Prospect Community.
