Meet McKenzie Markham, our new Middle School Tutoring Coordinator!

September 19, 2021 | Written by Dylan Rosenthal

Abundant Life is excited to announce the hiring of McKenzie Markham as our new Middle School Tutoring Coordinator! McKenzie will oversee weekly academic tutoring for Prospect neighborhood participants at Walker Upper Elementary and Buford Middle Schools. Her responsibilities will include supporting student-tutor relationships, implementing curriculum, interfacing with parents and teachers, and more.

McKenzie is a Central Virginia native who has several years of experience working in the Youth Development field. She attended James Madison University where she obtained a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies with minors in Sociology and Exceptional Education. McKenzie most recently served as Program Director at a local non-profit.  She currently serves as the director of Children’s Ministry with Charlottesville Community Church.

“I am really looking forward to working with students again, and to getting to know the families!” – McKenzie Markham

More about McKenzie

McKenzie has a passion for supporting youth and families and for ministry. She values a holistic approach — addressing spiritual, physical, educational, and economic needs — in caring for families. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, reading, and spending time outdoors.

For McKenzie, the Middle School Tutoring Coordinator position at Abundant Life is an obvious fit. “I am really excited to join the Abundant Life team to have the opportunity to address families’ spiritual needs in addition to needs for academic support, physical wellness, etc. I have a background in educational interventions and I am really looking forward to working with students again, and to getting to know the families!”
